  Olivia Culpo had a huge night Wednesday: She was crowned Miss Universe! The brunette, who was Miss Rhode Island and then crowned Miss USA, likely shared her victory with friends, family members, and her alleged boyfriend, Olympian Ryan Lochte!
  
  The two first met at Fashion Week back in September and they're said to have really hit it off. They've not come out and confirmed they're dating but the swimmer didn't hold back the compliments in New York at a fashion event. "She is beautiful. I love hanging out with her," he told E! News. "She has a great sense of humor. She makes me laugh. She's just a good girl to hang out with."
  
  Since then, they've generally been out of the news cycle but that doesn't mean their love hasn't blossomed over the last couple of months. With Lochte not practicing quite as much as he was leading up to London, perhaps he's had more time for courting this gorgeous pageant girl.

  Olivia Culpo was crowned Miss Universe in Las Vegas Wednesday night and it was a fierce competition all around. Gorgeous women from all over the globe put on their best gowns, bikinis, and talked about helping the world while vying for the title.
  
  While the talk of helping children and bettering the planet is definitely an important part of the Miss Universe ideals, an audience favorite is definitely the swimsuit portion. And, this year the gals rocked bikinis and heels like never before.
  
  Ladies opted for colorful swimwear on the stage and didn't actually look too cold. Those nerves and bright lights probably made it so that being in a swimsuit was actually a welcomed relief!

  New year, new approach

  The Miss Universe Jamaica pageant organizers have brought event management company INTUIT concepts on board to inject some new ideas and concepts into the pageant. Owned and operated by Kibwe McGann and Sean Lyn, INTUIT Concepts has several successful lifestyle brands: Wedding Spectacular; The Collections; Kingston Bridal Week; and Lifestyle TV series SPLASH -which airs on US cable giant BET.

  The duo has made a dramatic first move by opting for an open-aire venue and offering the show FREE of charge to the public. Last year’s pageant was held at the National Stadium and an indoor venue prior to that. This year’s staging on July 7th will be at the well-known park located in new Kingston.

  “We desire for everyone to own a part of this experience, hence our decision to share the selection of Miss Universe Jamaica with the people of Jamaica. The title ‘Miss Jamaica’ is a property that we believe can never be truly owned by a single group. Miss Universe Jamaica is a servant and a representative of the Jamaican people.” stated McGann in a release to CaribbeanCelebs.com

  “In accordance with our theme, ‘going for the crown’, we are working feverishly with our sponsors and partners to reintroduce scholarships, a car lease and a considerable cash prize with the hopes of attracting a savvy, beautiful, goal-oriented woman who can represent Jamaica and make us proud,” added Lyn.

  The Miss Universe title has been elusive for Jamaica. Yendi Phillipps was first runner-up in 2010; while Sandra Foster (1989); Kimberly Mais (1991); Nicole Haughton (1999); and Christine Straw (2004), were all in the Top 10.

  In November 2012 general manager of the Grand Palladium Jamaica Resort and Spa, Dimitri Kosvogiannis, secured the franchise rights. It was previously owned by Kingsley Cooper — CEO of Pulse modelling agency who ended his 20-year relationship with the event in May 2009.

  Miss Universe Pageant is one of three largest beauty contests in the world. It was founded in 1952.

  Miss Universe 2012 Olivia Culpo, was recognized as this year’s Madrina of the Latino Commission on AIDS in a media reception at Melibea Restaurant in New York City where she invited all to attend the upcoming Cielo Latino gala, the largest fundraiser for Latino AIDS initiatives in the US to be held May 17th at Cipriani Wall Street.

  “We are very excited about Olivia’s involvement with the Latino Commission on AIDS and her willingness to become this year’s Madrina with a particular focus in taking our prevention message directly to youths all over the world,” said Guillermo Chacón, President of the Latino Commission on AIDS, who explained Madrinas of the organization are those individuals who commit themselves to promote prevention and education related to HIV & AIDS.”

  “In the Latino culture the role of the Madrina (Godmother) is very important, as they are either a family member or very dear friend entrusted with another member for support.
